Found this news item on another forum I use from Perth in Australia…
Finally, someone bad get’s a beating, er, I mean, is a bit clumsy…

PERTH – An SAS trooper collecting toys for children was stabbed when he helped stop a suspected shoplifter in east Perth.

The ‘Toys-R-Us’ Store Manager told ‘The West Australian’ that man was seen on surveillance cameras last Friday putting a laptop under his jacket at the store.

When confronted, the man became irate, knocked down an employee, pulled a knife and ran toward the door.

Outside were four SAS Troopers collecting toys for the "Toys For Tots" program.

Smith said the Troopers stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them in the back. The cut did not appear to be severe.

The suspect was transported by ambulance to the Royal Perth Hospital with two broken arms, a broken leg, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions and assorted lacerations including a broken nose and jaw…

Injuries he allegedly sustained when he tripped whilst trying to abscond.

Friend claims he fit an entire bedroom set in his Saturn!

For the record, he has a 1997 Saturn sl1. He claims he went to Ikea and fit a queen size bedframe, dresser, night stand, and a lamp in his car. Is this in any way shape or form possible?

Serious Thread

Posted by: vdubfan3  /  Category: Miscellaneous

I have seen these kinds of thread other places, and wanted to see if it would go well here.

The point is really simple. You can bring serious problems or concerns into this thread and not worry about hate or it not being taken seriously. I know that’s kinda what the Regulars Thread is for, but sometimes stuff gets lost within all the other post. And this way people who aren’t regulars don’t have to wait for a certain post count to get help, or just vent.

If it doesn’t go over well, a mod can just lock or delete it. Whatever.

1.4-2.0 car choice?

Posted by: sabaka_g  /  Category: Miscellaneous

Well, i could be buying a car in a few months time. I think maybe someone has some good ideas about the cars, which are better and which should be avoid.

Criteria are:
1) The car should be made at least in the year 2000.
2) Engine between 1400 – 2000 CC (1,4-2,0l). Preferably petrol NA engine. Used diesel cars usually have much greater mileage and are more expensive to fix. Besides that I would not be paying for fuel from my own pocket.
3) Hard to talk about the price, because in different countries price differs much. Lets say that im not looking at luxury cars like BMW 5 or 7 series. Oriental price of the car could be something like 5000 dollars (or 3000 euros).
4) I will be travelling long distances so the car has to be comfortable.

Examples of cars that I was looking for: Opel Astra, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 323. Even found one 2000 legacy estate for the affordable price. Usually subarus are way too expensive. Strangely they cost even more than audis and bmws.

iPod foils potential kidnapping attempt

Thought this was kind of funny, read some of the comments, some of them are quite hilarious.

Quote:

Apple’s iPod touch can’t make cellular calls — at least, not without a special case — but it did look enough like the similar iPhone to foil one would-be predator. A Delaware suspect asked a 12-year-old girl to get into his van in front of her middle school, but quickly fled the scene, when the girl reportedly put her iPod against her ear and told him she was dialing police. The local authorities did eventually get called and are still looking for the suspect. If you see a "white male, 35-45 years of age, with a dark crew cut styled hair" suspiciously eying the headphone jack placement on devices in your local Apple Store, perhaps you’d best stay away.

Alright, so I was browsing the usual anime sites I go to (dannychoo.com, figure.fm, etc.) and I came upon a whole set of absolutely tear-inducingly hilarious grammar fails and translations fails by a couple Asian countries. It’s really quite funny, take a look
