POTM February

Posted by: clutch  /  Category: Car Multimedia & Games

This Month’s Theme: Police Cars

So as we head into February I thought we would have a unique POTM theme that will bring out unseen and equally unique entries. For this month’s POTM you are to find a picture of a police car. It does not necessarily have to be a legal in use police car, so for example if its dressed up T1 for the London police, it will work (biggest stretch of the rule), but if its just a car with the word police on it, it won’t work. No trucks or motorcycles please. Otherwise have at it.

Entries must be in by: February 20, 2011

This POTM theme was submitted by: clutch

Rules:

- No Photoshops/CG (B&W, saturation, contrast, clarity, cropping, resizing, brightness, IE basic adjustments are allowed)
- YOU MAY ONLY SUBMIT ONE PICTURE, NO CHANGING PICTURES
- You may ONLY re-enter once if your picture does not qualify with the theme.
- you may only list one picture, failure to comply will result in an automatic DQ.
- picture MUST BE at least 800 x 600 pixels or it will not be accepted. Preferably find a picture that is even larger, and then scale it down yourself.
- No late entries, you get 19 days to get it in by, that should be enough time.
- ONE image per-person
- eligibility of picture is subject to change according to my rulings (ie bad quality, inappropriate, etc)
-No people in the pic. They take away from the competition and voting. So please, no people, just cars. (However, if they are mechanics, drivers, crew, etc. I will review it.)
-No usage of past POTM winning pics.
-No motorcycles
-Must be active member on SCF.
-If you enter this POTM you MUST vote in the voting thread for it.

This Month’s Theme: Free Choice

In continuing tradition for a 4th straight year, with a new year comes new ideas, and in order to bring those ideas to light this POTM is special in that it is a free choice. So I look for us to converge on a new year with no limitations. Basically its your choice for a theme. You can submit any type of picture as long as there is a 4 wheel vehicle of some kind in the picture. Have fun and take your time to find the perfect pic. Oh and keep this car/truck related. (That means no tanks, golf carts, land speed cars, etc)

Entries must be in by: January 31, 2011

-Good luck to everyone

-Photos are uploaded to my gallery for viewing at any time.

Design Competition 16 (S16 Fighter)

Posted by: teXas  /  Category: Car Multimedia & Games

Last competition was a slow one, as there was a surprising lack of interest in designing the ideal RX7… until some 3 weeks after the dealine. :p

Oregonian yokel, Evo_power was first to enter a submission, and I liked his pitch. Since the Nissan Sivia has never had a definitive design, Evo_Power thought it would nice to give it one.

To add a bit of creative freedom, I feel it would be cool to allow anything that would also serve as a direct rival to the Nissan Silvia.

Rules:

  • Entries must run a 4 cylinder engine and rwd
  • Entries must be of a 2+2 seating configuration
  • Entries must slate below the 370Z/G37 in price (so no carbon fiber monocoques and 2013 F1 engines)

That’s it.

Be creative, but be realistic.

Due to winter break and lack of access to scanners for most, I’m making the deadline Tuesday January 11th.

Good luck, folks!

This Month’s Theme: Original Shots

We have arrived to the last month of 2010! For the final month, I thought we should have a true membership competition. For this month’s theme, the picture you enter must be one you yourself have taken. Whether it its new or old, it has to be an image you yourself took. Of course the subject(s) in the image have to be cars/trucks, but otherwise its pretty straight forward. From here on out, we’ll have December be the original shot month!

Bonhams pics as requested

Posted by: SubaruKid37  /  Category: Car Multimedia & Games

Took a while but I seem to be burning the candle at both ends and another week has flown past and it’s all crazy, so here are the pics from Bonhams day, a little late…

I get to drive the 1969 Shelby GT350

But my colleague gets to be cold

I made it safely

some of the other cars, first car is 1 of 3 Zagato 575 Barchetta’s, this is the only 1 in Europe (the other 2 in the US)

Mustang made it too

That was set up day, and the old CLK GTR is still there

Now it is viewing day

And that was all I took pics of, but here’s a couple more from MB World

New for 2010, we are keeping F1 style scoring for POTM competitions. So far these are what the yearly standings look like through POTM November:

1. clutch – 57 pts (3 wins) (1 miss)
2. godzillapetrol – 50 pts (2 wins) (3 miss)
3. turbinas – 48 pts (1 win) (0 miss)
4. eos rebel – 47 pts (2 wins) (0 miss)
5. leka-s – 46 pts (0 win)(0 miss)
6. beaver – 44 pts (1 win) (2 miss)
7. breakfan – 39 pts (2 wins) (2 miss)
8. thebrowntruth – 27 pts (0 win) (2 miss)
9. cooper s – 21 pts (0 win) (0 miss)
10. texlonghorn – 21 pts (0 win) (0 miss)

I have shown only the top 10. Through 11 months there have been a total of 75 entrants, 59 of whom have scored 1 or more points.

I have also decided to post how many wins each of the top 10 entrants have received in 2010 and also how many months they did not enter so far in 2010.

As we are heading into the last month, the final points shall determine this year’s POTM champion. Because there are still 4 members capable of winning, in case of a tie in points, the tiebreaker will be overall wins. If the members are still tied, it will go down to average points over months entered. If the scores are still tied, there will be a special competition between just those two members in a wildcard POTM competition alongside POTM January.

As always, good luck, take your time choosing a winner, and suggestions for future POTMs are always welcome. If you have questions (especially in regards to eligibility) PM me before entering!

This Month’s Theme: Drifting Shots

We are rolling towards the end of the year in what is now the 11th month of the year. For this month, I thought we would go with a smokey finish with the theme being drift shots! As we slide closer to 2011 your job is to find a picture of a car drifting. When making your selection make it apparent that the vehicle is indeed sliding with its tail out and wheels on opposite lock. There is a difference between burnouts, plowing in a corner, 4 wheel slides and drifting. Don’t be "smart" about it, enter appropriately. Keep to cars gents.

Top Gear US = Fail, Suck

Posted by: dubie7006  /  Category: Car Multimedia & Games

I’m watching the premier of the new Top Gear US version on History. I’ve watched maybe 5 minutes of it, catching it late after work. Currently, the three hosts are reviewing 3 different Lambos and I hate this. It’s nothing like the UK version – videography is not up to UK par, 3 hosts reviewing at the same time doesn’t do it for me. This may seem stupid and a small detail, but I miss the English accent. The guys just seem uninteresting without it.

Having said all that, will I continue to watch the show? Probably. But, something we’ve known already, nothing will ever compare to the original. Top Gear UK FTMFW!
